I love following people’s adventures. Obviously, you do too – otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this little bloggy blog, here.
As we travel around Australia, we often meet interesting people with lots of great travel yarns to tell. Luckily, as you know, some of the interesting people who travel Australia, also write travel blogs. A little while ago, I shared some of my favourite blogs currently travelling Australia. Now, I’d like to share with you, some of my favourite blogs that have finished travelling around Australia – for the time being, at least. This post isn’t sponsored in anyway. I’m just full of love for what these people do.
1. Foxs Lane
Kate and her family took their beautiful vintage gypsy caravan from their home, an enchanting farm in Daylesford, Victoria, up the middle of Australia and down the west coast – much the same path we are now taking. Kate’s posts from 12 July 2011 to the end of 2011 detail their magical trip and Kate went on to write the beautiful book Vantastic: Retro Caravan Holidays in a Modern World.
2. Are We There Yet?
Great title, right? The Fealy Family packed up Karen, their camper, and took to the open road with their three kids. While their trip didn’t go for quite as long as they planned, there is no doubt it changed their lives. They are now mango, avocado, lime and passionfruit farmers in Far North Queensland and have recently welcomed a fourth beautiful child to their brood! Jess will tell you all about their travels from the post of 31 May 2013 through to the last leg of their journey, posted on 13 March 2014.
3. Expedition Australia
Expedition Australia is a great website which was a huge help to us when we were originally planning our travels, with budgeting tools and other hot tips. You’ve got me though – they aren’t really a blog. But, they have released an awesome DVD video-log of their trip which we really enjoyed watching. If you are travelling Australia, or thinking about it, I highly recommend watching their travels.
4. 1 Year Off
Lydon and Bec knew they wanted to take a year off, but weren’t sure what to do in that year – live in the south of France, or go around Australia. We had much the same set of conversations when we first decided it was time for a sabbatical. I think we were both right when we picked travelling Australia! It looks like they had no regrets either, as their last post talks about the fabulous friendships they’ve made around this beautiful country.
5. Rob & Marg’s Blog on the Caravan and Motorhome on Tour’s website
Rob and Marg are caravanning rock stars in Australia and you won’t find many RVers around this great country who haven’t read this blog. The blog details their 2011 Big Lap and is full of great information for anyone thinking about taking to the road in an RV.
So, are you feeling entirely inspired to buy a van, have a BIG garage sale, hand in your resignation and take to the road for a sabbatical yet?!?! If you’re planning an Australian road-trip, I’d love to hear about it! Also, if you have any friends you think would be interested in this list of great blogs that have travelled Aus, please share this post with them via social media… because sharing is caring.
PS: Welcome to the new look of my blog. I’ve moved to self-hosted WordPress – yippee! I’ll be playing dress-ups on the blog for a while yet, until I get it all looking great. Thanks for your patience during this redesign.3 Did you like this?
